Expanding the Impact: Increasing Capacity and Influence

Sponsored by The FDIC, Federal Reserve Board, and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency

2017 National Interagency MDI and CDFI Conference

Conference Overview

Every two years, the Federal Banking Regulatory Agencies (FDIC, OCC and Federal Reserve) host this important interagency conference for FDIC-insured minority depository institutions and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banks to help preserve and promote their mission. The 2017 event was held April 5-6 at the Los Angeles Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. FDIC Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg, Federal Reserve Board Governor Jerome H. Powell, and Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry, welcomed other senior Federal officials and minority and CDFI bank executives to explore how to "Expand the Impact: Increase Capacity and Influence" of these institutions.

The conference encouraged interactive discussion among those who believe minority depository institutions and CDFI banks are uniquely positioned to create positive change in their communities. The conference also encouraged a diverse array of participants to express their views. A summary of the conference is provided below..
