July Monthly Message from the FDIC

In July we recognize Military Consumer Month. During this month, we strive to increase awareness of financial readiness for servicemembers, veterans, and their families. Military Consumer Protection Day was first launched in 2013 by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as a day to raise awareness about identity theft crimes that impact servicemembers. Since then, it has grown to a month-long campaign that is supported by numerous partners across the nation.

If you are planning programs for servicemembers this month, consider our Money Smart for Adults (MSA) curriculum. The MSA includes many different topics that can be helpful to servicemembers. From buying a home (module 13) to protecting your identity and other assets (module 11), there is something to enhance your financial literacy classes.

Our latest resource, How Money Smart Are You? offers multiple games on the same topics discussed in Money Smart for Adults.

We are eager to hear about your promising approaches and successful strategies involving Money Smart. Please share your story or tips about Money Smart at moneysmartnews@fdic.gov. Join us on social media using the #FDICMoneySmart and show us the Money Smart products in action!

FDIC Money Smart for Adults – English versions of Participant Guides now all PDF-fillable!

Good news! All of the Participant Guides in English for our instructor-led version of MSA are now PDF-fillable. Participants can follow along on their phones or computers and fill in the questions and activities electronically, if they wish. The Apply It and Try It activities that involve math, now also perform the calculations automatically. Participants can focus on the content rather than the math. Our website always includes our most updated versions. You can find the PDF-fillable and math-enabled MSA Participant Guides in English at fdic.gov/msa-modules.
