Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement

To carry out our mission to maintain stability and public confidence in our nation’s financial system, all of us at the FDIC have a responsibility to prevent discrimination, harassment and retaliation. It is the FDIC’s policy to provide Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), where all employees and applicants for employment can achieve excellence on a level playing field.

I am committed to this policy and to upholding merit-based employment that prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, reprisal, whistleblower status, or pregnancy, childbirth, or other related medical conditions.  EEO protections under the law and Executive Orders extend to all management practices and decisions, and personnel actions including, but not limited to recruitment and hiring, merit promotion, transfers, reassignments, training, career development, benefits and separations. Consistent with these obligations, the FDIC also provides reasonable accommodations to employees and applicants with disabilities and for sincerely held religious beliefs, observances, and practices. The FDIC is committed to effective implementation of these laws, policies, and practices to ensure employees have the freedom to compete for opportunities equally and fairly.

Employees and applicants are also protected against retaliation. Acts of retaliation against an employee who engages in protected activity, such as reporting discrimination or harassment or participating in the EEO process or whistleblowing, will not be tolerated at the FDIC. The FDIC fully supports the rights of all employees to exercise their rights under the civil rights statutes.

For more information about the FDIC’s EEO and Anti-Harassment programs, including information on freedom from retaliation for those who engage in protected activity, please contact the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and the Office of Professional Conduct.

FDIC employees or applicants who believe that they have been subject to discrimination, harassment, or retaliation based on a protected basis should contact an EEO Counselor at (703) 562-6100 or eeo-info@fdic.gov. Allegations of whistleblower retaliation should be reported to the FDIC Office of Inspector General Hotline. And allegations of harassment should be reported to the Office of Professional Conduct at OPC@fdic.gov. The FDIC will take prompt and appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action when anyone is found to have engaged in misconduct.

We remain committed to a workplace free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.  Doing so will enable us to serve the American public and our nation’s financial system to the best of our ability.
