FDIC Hosts Addressing the Racial Lending Gap in North Carolina through Innovative Lending Products

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is hosting a small business lending forum to promote discussions around the credit and capital needs of minority small businesses. The forum is designed to foster new collaborations between banks, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), and small business stakeholders. The forum will provide an opportunity for CDFIs and financial institutions to strengthen their relationships to support minority-owned and Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs) by exploring innovative lending products such as special purpose credit programs. Representatives will share innovative approaches and resources to help advance equitable access to affordable capital and credit that promotes community development. In addition, a representative from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will share research data on small business lending in the south. The FDIC will also highlight economic inclusion resources.
