FDIC Host Taking a Fresh Look at the Equal Credit Opportunity Act to Create Special Purpose Credit Programs, Webinar Series Part I

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will host a webinar series “Taking a Fresh Look at the Equal Credit Opportunity Act to Create Special Purpose Credit Programs”. The series will help to increase participants’ knowledge of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, which permits banks to target lending to underserved populations and communities of color through Special Purpose Credit Programs (SPCPs). Presenters will discuss existing guidance for SPCPs, including how to create a SPCP, documentation requirements, the need for supporting evidence, and how special purpose credit programs can be combined with other efforts to expand lending to historically underserved groups. Attendees will hear from financial institutions offering these products, as well as the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston's efforts to increase homeownership in underserved communities with its recently launched Lift Up Homeownership Program.
