Panelist Biography - Lessie Powell Evans
Chief, Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection

Lessie Powell Evans is the Chief for Community Affairs for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP). She provides guidance and oversight for the Community Affairs Managers and staff in headquarters (Washington, DC) and the field to promote economic inclusion and support community development and CRA collaborations. Ms. Evans brings more than 25 years of experience in leading community development initiatives and developing collaborations with community, governmental, and financial institutions at the local, regional, and national levels. Ms. Evans previously worked as an Affordable Housing Transaction Branch Chief for the Mark-to-Market and Recap Programs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and previously managed HUD’s Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) Program. Before joining HUD, she was President/CEO of Evans Consulting and Development LLC, a real estate development services firm. Ms. Evans also managed programs at two foundations, and has managed the finance, acquisition, and development of affordable housing in the nonprofit and private sectors. She also managed a major Low Income Housing Tax Credit syndication program. Ms. Evans graduated from Morgan State University and holds a master’s in public administration from the American University.
