    Alexander Ufier is a Financial Economist in the Quantitative Risk Analysis I Section of the Division of Insurance and Research.

    His research interests include optimal design of deposit insurance, determinants of bank failure, taxation and development. He joined the FDIC in June 2015. He has dedicated much of his research time to studying structured bank data the FDIC collects during the resolution of failed institutions.

    He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Oklahoma studying topics in public finance and macro development. He earned an MA in Economics from the University of Oklahoma and a BA in Economics and History from Bucknell University.
