
Mark Kutzbach is a Senior Financial Economist in the Financial Modeling and Research Section of the Center for Financial Research in the Division of Insurance and Research at the FDIC.
His current research topics include bank lending and technology, household finance and unemployment, and the banking labor force. Kutzbach has published research on topics in urban, labor, housing, and transportation economics as well as data linkage and confidentiality protection. At the FDIC, Kutzbach has contributed to the biennial household survey report, which presents findings on the FDIC’s topical supplement to the Current Population Survey.
He joined the FDIC in April 2017 after working at the U.S. Census Bureau in the Center for Economic Studies since 2009. Kutzbach obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of California, Irvine and his BS in Economics, with a minor in History, from Northwestern University.
