On Friday, March 9, 2012, New City Bank was closed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation – Division of Banking. The FDIC was named Receiver. An assuming institution could not be located; therefore, the FDIC will fulfill its obligation to insured depositors by mailing checks for their insured amounts.
The FDIC as Receiver for New City Bank, Chicago, IL has taken all actions necessary to terminate the Receivership Estate. The Receiver published a legal notice of intent to terminate the receivership on February 24, 2025 and has made all dividend distributions required by law.
Effective June 1, 2025, the Receiver was discharged and the Receivership Estate was terminated and ceased existence as a legal entity.
