I oppose the FDIC's proposal to allow banks with assets above $250 million to be examined as small banks under the Community Reinvestment Act. This policy would reduce lending, investments and services in low-income communities. I watched financial institution disinvestment in the city of Detroit as I grew up and this change could take us 25 steps backwards. Banks need a strong and consistent nudge to do what is good for the long-term "public good" and not just the short-term "bottom line".
