My organization, Penquis CAP, serves Penobscot and Piscataquis
Counties in
Maine. We have built significant partnerships throughout the local
banking
community in support of a subsidiary Community Development Financial
Institution that we created and in support of workforce and elderly
affordable housing projects.
Increasing the threshold for CRA compliance will have a marked
adverse
effect on our ability to meet the housing and lending needs of our low
and
moderate income citizens and I would ask that you withdraw your proposed
changes and leave this very successful system of community investment as
is.
