This presentation will discuss how technology continues to influence the banking industry, the potential associated risks, and the Board’s role in effectively governing the activities. Additionally, the presentation will include a brief case study to reinforce key learning concepts.
Payments Fraud: Current Schemes and Mitigation Strategies
This presentation will discuss the growing trend in payments fraud, including common schemes related to checks, authorized push payments, and cryptocurrency. Additionally, the presentation will discuss potential mitigation strategies, red flag indicators, and action steps.
Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Overview
This presentation will provide a brief history on the Community Reinvestment Act and elaborate on the evaluation process, ratings, and how various components are assessed during the examination process.
Conversation with the Regulators
This session will provide an informal setting for participants to hear what is on regulators’ minds and to share experience and insights as a community bank board member. Members of the FDIC regional management team will highlight emerging issues, answer participant questions, and discuss topics raised by participants. The session structure will include prepared remarks, as well as an open forum for questions and discussion.

This presentation will provide national and local economic data to assist attendees in identifying key trends that have impacted and may continue to impact the industry.
Guidance for New Directors/Trustees
Additionally, we will offer one virtual-only Guidance for New Directors session through Microsoft Teams. This session will focus on fundamental board governance issues and is designed for Directors/Trustees with less than five years’ experience. Specifically, presenters will discuss roles and responsibilities, the examination process, effective strategies to monitor bank performance, and address any audience questions.
