General Comment:

Please, please require credit bureaus and reporting companies to take more care
before adding any information to a credit file. This can be done by simply require
them to verify data by cross-checking with other data. For instance, check the
name and address or SS# to be sure they have the right person. Or require an
independent second level check by a credit card company before a negative
comment is reported.

Credit bureaus are not being careful enough before they add information to their
records. They seem to be taking an approach that puts information in a person's
file without checking on it at all and then relying on the individual to dispute the
incorrect information. For example, my file had records in it that were from
another person with the same last surname but addresses and SS# were not the
same as mine. This can only have occurred because they didn't verify anything
other than the surname. Currently two of the credit bureaus in my area have a
previous address listed that I have never lived in. One of the previous owners of the
house had a similar surname to me but again, a simple check of the complete
name or SS# would reveal this is not correct. It will take me 60 days to get this
corrected! Also, several years ago I had a credit card that I requested the grantor
to change to a different card that has a better reward program. I recently checked
my report and it now shows the change was requested by the grantor, not me and
that the card was 30 days late during the transition month. Neither of these items
are correct. This is going to take me months to fix! Credit bureaus and reporting
companies are being way too careless because the existing rules allow them to
put the burdon of their mistakes on the public. Please fix this!

Thanks in advance.
