FDIC Announces Meeting of Advisory Committee on Community Banking
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) today announced that it will hold a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Community Banking on Tuesday, July 30. FDIC senior staff will provide an update on various supervisory policy issues and the FDIC Subcommittee on Supervision Modernization, as well as brief Committee members on minority and community development financial institutions, Money Smart financial education materials, and de novo institutions. In addition, the FDIC Ombudsman will provide a briefing to the Committee, and a panel will discuss FDIC and U. S. Small Business Administration collaboration efforts. The Committee will also discuss local banking conditions.

Established in May 2009, the Advisory Committee on Community Banking provides input to the FDIC on a range of issues that impact the nation's community banks, including examination policies and procedures, credit and lending practices, deposit insurance assessments, insurance coverage, and regulatory compliance.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT in the FDIC's main building located at 550 17 th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. The meeting also will be webcast live.

Congress created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in 1933 to restore public confidence in the nation's banking system.
