New Version of EDIE -- the Electronic Deposit Insurance
Estimator -- for Use by Financial Institution Employees
The FDIC is releasing a new, CD-ROM version of its interactive insurance calculator to help bankers provide accurate information to customers.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is pleased to announce the release of a new version of its Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE) designed exclusively for use by financial institution personnel. The banker version of EDIE was developed in response to comments and suggestions from bankers who are frequent users of the Internet version released in 1998 for depositors. Like the Internet version for consumers (located at http://www2.fdic.gov/edie), the banker version can be used to calculate deposit insurance coverage for single ownership, joint ownership, testamentary (or POD/ITF/ATF) and IRA accounts. However, the banker version allows users to enter depositor account information much more quickly than the Internet version, and it is available in CD-ROM, so it does not require a connection to the Internet to operate. The banker version also provides a printable report that financial institution staff can share with bank customers.
The FDIC encourages all FDIC-insured financial institutions to take advantage of this new tool to help bank staff provide accurate information about insurance coverage to customers.
To order your free copy of the EDIE banker version CD-ROM online, go to http://www5.fdic.gov/esaedieregister on the FDIC's Web site.
