EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF INSURED FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
AND INSURED U.S. BRANCHES OF FOREIGN BANKS
Summary of Deposits Survey Data Now Available
FDIC's annual Summary of Deposits, which provides
detailed information about deposits at the 71,000
offices operated by U.S. banks, is now available on
the Internet (www.fdic.gov). The new Internet capability
has not only enabled the FDIC to make the survey available
much earlier than in the past, but has also made it
possible to provide flexible and user-friendly tools
for accessing the branch deposit data.
Deposit survey data as of June 30, 1996, is also
available on magnetic tape (entire universe) or
a facsimile (individual banks or banks in a specified
state or county). Requests for facsimiles and tapes
can be mailed to the FDIC Disclosure Group, Room
F-518, 550 17th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20429
or faxed to the Disclosure Group at (202) 898- 8614.
All requests should include the type of format desired
and the mailing address and telephone number of
the requester. The cost for the magnetic tape is
$85; facsimile cost is 10 cents per page. An invoice
will be mailed to the requestor along with the product.
As in past years, Data Books containing branch deposit
information will continue to be mailed to subscribers;
distribution of the 1996 Data Books is scheduled
for January 1997. If you would like a Data Book
and are not currently on the subscription list,
send a written request to the FDIC Public Information
Center, 801 17th Street, N.W., Room 100, Washington,
D.C. 20434. Requests for a Data Book can also be
faxed ((703) 562-2296) or sent via e-mail (email@example.com).
Future enhancements affecting the deposit survey
are being planned. Beginning with the SOD survey
as of June 30, 1997, financial institutions will
be able to file electronically rather than submitting
a hard-copy form. The ability to submit reports
electronically should significantly reduce the reporting
burden for institutions required to provide this
information and enable the FDIC to further accelerate
processing and publishing of the SOD survey data.

Trust and Survey Group at 1-800-765- 4081.
