TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER
SUBJECT: Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council CD-ROM on Financial Privacy and Information Security

The enclosed CD-ROM, developed by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), contains reference and training materials on consumer financial privacy. The CD-ROM may be used to help your staff:

  • understand the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act privacy provisions,
  • implement effective policies and practices to maintain compliance with the new privacy rule, and
  • protect the security and confidentiality of customer information.

The CD-ROM provides a single source for relevant federal laws and rules and agency examination procedures. It also contains 12 multimedia presentations with audio accompaniment addressing consumer financial privacy, including all aspects of the new privacy rule and the 501(b) security guidelines. The information on the CD-ROM is also available on the FFIEC Web site at www.ffiec.gov .

Enclosed also is a Fact Sheet containing the hardware and software requirements and instructions on how to operate the CD-ROM.
