FFEIC Risk Management Planning Seminar

FIL-57-99
June 18, 1999

TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER and COMPLIANCE OFFICER
SUBJECT: FFIEC's 1999 Risk Management Planning Seminar

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) has announced that it will host its 1999 Risk Management Planning Seminar on November 8 and 9 in Washington, D.C.

These planning seminars provide an excellent opportunity for senior management to discuss risk management issues and examination procedures with regulators. The FDIC encourages all institutions to send a senior staff member to this year's event.

The seminar features John D. Hawke, Jr., Comptroller of the Currency, as keynote speaker. Ellen Seidman, Director of the Office of Thrift Supervision, will deliver the luncheon address.

Topics to be covered at the seminar include:

  • Risk Measurement Approaches—Industry vs. Regulator
  • Capital Adequacy—Regulatory Proposals for Change
  • Financial Strategies for the Community Bank
  • Capital Treasury Markets—What lies ahead?
  • Credit Risk Management
  • Technology Risks—Protecting Corporate Network Assets
