Request for Information (RFI) on Industrial Banks and Industrial Loan Companies and Their Parent Companies

Summary:

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is soliciting comments from interested parties on the FDIC’s approach to evaluating the statutory factors applicable to certain filings submitted by industrial banks and industrial loan companies (collectively, industrial banks).

Statement of Applicability: Industrial bank and proposed industrial bank applicants.

Highlights:

  • Through this RFI, the FDIC is seeking to review the nature and structure of companies that have applied, or may in the future apply, for an industrial bank charter and Federal deposit insurance, or for FDIC approval or non-objection to enter into other corporate transactions involving industrial banks, and the issues those applications and notices may present.
  • This review will help to inform how the agency evaluates the statutory factors applicable to each filing given the unique aspects of industrial bank business plans and the issues presented by the range of companies that may seek to establish an industrial bank in the modern marketplace.
