I do not agree with the proposal to raise the current assessment rates for all banks..  We are a small community bank.  We have conservative policies and the majority of our customers are senior citizens living on a limited fixed income.  Our fees are low and the majority of our loans as low as $500.00 are made to this customer base.    Our profit margins are slim due to our conservative practices.  We have not been caught up in any of the subprime lending in which other financial institutions have been involved and do not feel like we should be penalized for their negligence.
