Westhab is a 501c(3) housing and social service agency in New York,
and frequently looks to access loan funding from institutional lenders
for community development activities, development of new housing
projects for low income clients, etc. The Community Reinvestment Act is
a critical part of our community's affordable housing and community
development efforts. We are writing to let you know that we oppose any
increase to the threshold of what is considered to be a small bank.
The proposed FDIC rule would exempt many of our community's
critical banking partners from the effective and productive CRA
requirements currently in place. We urge the FDIC to withdraw its
proposed rule immediately.
