Ms. Ryan is Deputy to Martin J. Gruenberg, Vice Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Prior to assuming her current position in February 2006, she served as Associate Director in the FDIC's Division of Insurance and Research. She joined the FDIC from Fannie Mae, where she served as Vice President of Industry Analysis and Vice President for Corporate Strategy. Before joining Fannie Mae, she served for more than a decade as Vice President and as Senior Economist at Capital Economics (since renamed The CapAnalysis Group LLC), an affiliate of the Washington, DC law firm Howrey LLP, where she provided economic consulting services on antitrust and regulatory matters. She also previously served as Economic Advisor to the Chairman of the U.S. International Trade Commission, Manager of Ernst & Young’s economic consulting practice, Research Associate at Evans Economics, Inc, and Assistant Manager at The National Bank of Washington.
Ms. Ryan received a B.A. in Economics and English from Georgetown University, an M.A. in Economics from The George Washington University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University. She has served as an adjunct professor of economics at George Mason University. She also represents the FDIC on the Research and Guidance Committee of the International Association of Deposit Insurers and Chairs IADI's Financial Inclusion Subcommittee and Subcommittee on Cross Border Deposit Insurance Issues.
