Panelist Biography

Ardie Hollifield

Ardie Hollifield is the Manager of the Safe Checking in the Electronic Age project at the Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, D.C. She has nearly ten years of advocacy, communications, research, grassroots and legislative experience protecting consumers. She has authored several reports for the Pew Health Group’s Financial Security Portfolio and is currently advocating for passage of the Project’s policy recommendations to address harmful practices in checking accounts. Her work at Pew has been covered in numerous media outlets including a New York Times editorial calling for passage of the Project's recommendations.  Prior to joining Pew, she worked for the Center for Responsible Lending, providing technical assistance to states and Congress to combat predatory lending practices. Earlier in her career, Ms. Hollifield served on the Congressional staff of current Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis and worked at the Feminist Majority Foundation in Arlington, VA. Ms. Hollifield has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of North Carolina-Asheville and will complete her Master of Public Policy at George Mason University in 2012.
