Julieann M. Thurlow

President and Chief Executive Officer
Reading Cooperative Bank

Julieann M. Thurlow is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Reading Cooperative Bank. She joined the Bank in 1993 and rose through the lending ranks to become its president. When Julie was named President in 2006, the Bank had 4 branches and $237.6 million in total assets. Under her leadership, the number of branches has doubled to 8 and RCB's assets have doubled to $500MM.

Julie is responsible for the strategic direction and management of Reading Cooperative Bank. She continues to stand-out among women bank presidents and has been profiled in both local and regional media. In 2014, American Banker Magazine named Julie to its list of The 25 Women to Watch in Banking and the Commonwealth Institute named Reading Cooperative Bank a Top 100 Women- Led Business for the last two years running.

Julie is the President of the Reading Cooperative Charitable Foundation and is active in identifying and supporting organizations and projects that improve the quality of life for individuals in and around the communities served by the Bank.

Her former employers include Lawrence Savings Bank, The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Boston Bank of Commerce and Winchendon Savings Bank.

In addition to an MBA from the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University, she has completed advanced studies at the Stonier National School of Banking, Massachusetts School for Financial studies and Harvard Business School’s Division of Continuing Education.

In 2014 Julieann was named to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s Community Bank Advisory Council and in November 2015 she joined the board of the American Bankers Association Board. She also serves on the ABA Communication Council, Membership Council and Government Relations Administrative Committee and Council. She serves on the Massachusetts Bankers Federal Liaison Committee and was the State Minority Leader’s appointee to the Massachusetts State Foreclosure Task Force. Julie is a former member of the board of the Cooperative Bank Employee Retirement Association and was a founding member of BancAlliance, Inc.

Presently, Julie is a member of the Board of the Cooperative Central Bank where she also serves on the Finance Committee, is a Director of Bankers Bank Northeast serving on their Credit Committee. Locally she served as the President of the Board of VNA Middlesex East, is a Corporator of Winchester Hospital and the Interim Chair of the Lahey Hospital Continuum of Care Board overseeing VNA Hospice and Senior Care.

She holds Series 6 and 63 securities licenses as well as Life, Accident and Health Insurance licenses on behalf of Reading Cooperative Bank.

Julie lives in Methuen with her husband, Ray, and three children.
