Kris Rengert is a Senior Consumer Researcher in the Consumer Research and Examination Analytics Branch of the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection at the FDIC. Previously he was a Community Development Expert in the Community Affairs Department at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Prior to that, he was Director for Housing Policy Research at the Fannie Mae Foundation, where he was also Managing Editor of Housing Policy Debate. Kris received his Ph.D. in Planning and Policy Development from Rutgers University, his M.S. in Geography from Penn State and his B.A. in Government from Clark University. His research interests are generally in the affordable housing, consumer protection and community development arenas, with special focus on mortgage and small business lending; consumer access to financial services; foreclosure prevention; and federal, state and local affordable housing policy.
