Subject: Affiliate Marketing OPT Out Regulations

First of all I believe the Opt Out Notice should be the responsibility of and provided to the consumer by the parent company on behalf of the company’s affiliate(s).
Opt outs are mostly very wordy and misleading. Many times it takes a reading effort to understand who the parent company is.
Some parent companies have numerous affiliates. This means the consumer receives numerous opt out mailings from company’s various affiliate(s).
The parent company should be required to:
i. provide the opt out notice and
ii. in the notice the parent company should be required to list all of the company’s affiliates
This procedure would limit one opt out notice for both the parent company and any and all affiliates of the parent company.
