1998 Edition of A Guide to HMDA Reporting - Getting it Right!
The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) has issued the 1998 edition of A Guide to HMDA Reporting - Getting it Right!. The Guide is a valuable resource for Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)-reporting institutions.
The new edition of the Guide contains one important change: To comply with Year 2000 data system standards, beginning in 1998, the year of the "Date Application Received" should be entered onto the HMDA-LAR using four digits. For example, 01/31/98 should now be entered as 01/31/1998.
The new edition of the Guide also contains critical source documents as appendices, including the:
Federal Reserve Board's Regulation C, which implements the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act and Staff Commentary on the regulation;
Form and instructions for completing the HMDA Loan Application Register;
Asset-size exemption for depository institutions;
New option for making branch-office disclosures available to the public; and
New Metropolitan Statistical Areas
(MSAs) in Arkansas and Idaho, and a change in a Tennessee MSA.
Two copies of A Guide to HMDA Reporting - Getting it Right! are enclosed for FDIC-supervised HMDA-reporting institutions only.
