Internet Access to Call Reports Analysis Staff
|
The FDIC has added information to its Internet home page that will benefit Call Report preparers
as well as the general public. Information about how to contact staff of the Division of
Supervisions Call Reports Analysis Section by direct e-mail and by telephone is now available
through the sections newly established Internet e-mail address, callreports@fdic.gov.
Already on the FDIC home page is a Call Report instruction book supplement, Checks and
Balances, Guidelines for Preparing an Error Free Call Report. With the new information now
available, interested parties can obtain additional Call Report preparation information and
assistance from experienced financial analysts. They will also have the opportunity to comment
on the quality of service provided and offer suggestions for improvement.
The Call Reports Analysis Section is responsible for overseeing financial institution adherence to
the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council's quarterly Call Report submission
requirements. Call Report data is a widely used source of timely and accurate financial
information about a bank's condition and the results of its operations. This information is used
extensively by the bank regulatory agencies in their daily off-site monitoring and surveillance
activities. Other users include the general public, the U.S. Congress, state banking authorities,
researchers, bank-rating agencies, and the academic community.
The format of the sections web-site page is similar to the attached staff analysts' state-
assignment listing for the March 31, 1997, Call Reports. Quarterly updates will be made to
reflect changes in staff assignments according to the state and/or reporting category of the
financial institutions for which the analyst is responsible (banks with foreign offices and large
banks with domestic offices only that file FFIEC form 031 and 32, respectively; and medium and
small banks with domestic offices only that file FFIEC form 033 and 034, respectively).
For more information, please call the Call Reports Analysis Section on (800) 688-FDIC (3342)
or (202) 898-6607. The section may also be reached by fax on (202) 898-3512 or (202) 898-
3515.
