Fair Housing

FIL-1-95
January 6, 1995

TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND COMPLIANCE OFFICERS
SUBJECT: Revised Poster Required to be Displayed

Enclosed is a revised Equal Housing Lender poster required under Part 338.4(a) of the FDIC's regulations to be displayed in banking offices as a way to promote equal opportunity in mortgage lending. The previously required poster should be replaced with this new one as soon as possible.

The revised poster identifies the FDIC's new Division of Compliance and Consumer Affairs (DCA) as the appropriate division for receiving discrimination complaints from the public under FDIC regulations and the Fair Housing Act. The FDIC established DCA on August 30, 1994, to combine the activities of the Office of Consumer Affairs with the compliance examination functions of the Division of Supervision. The new Division allows the FDIC to be more responsive to consumers and bankers, and to streamline and consolidate efforts to ensure compliance with consumer, civil rights and fair housing laws.

You may reproduce the enclosed poster or request additional copies free of charge by writing to: Warehouse, FDIC, 550 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20429-9990. Please specify how many copies you need of the English and/or Spanish version of the poster, along with the name and address of your institution.

If you have any questions, please contact your regional DCA office (list attached).
