Extension of Comment Period for Request for Information on the Use of the Uniform Financial Institutions Rating System

Summary:

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Federal Reserve Board are extending until February 28, 2020, the comment period for a request for information and comments from interested parties regarding the Uniform Financial Institutions Rating System (more commonly known as CAMELS ratings).

Statement of Applicability to Institutions with Total Assets under $1 Billion: This Financial Institution Letter announces an extension of the comment period for a request for information from any FDIC-supervised financial institution and the public.

  • On October 31, 2019, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Federal Reserve Board published a notice and request for comment in the Federal Register seeking information and comments from interested parties regarding the Uniform Financial Institutions Rating System (UFIRS).
  • The agencies have extended the deadline to respond to this request for information until February 28, 2020.
  • The agencies extended the comment period to allow interested persons more time to analyze the issues and prepare their comments, which were originally due by December 30, 2019.
