Jeffrey Weinstein is a Senior Financial Economist in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. His research interests include topics in consumer finance and the economics of education. Since joining the FDIC in 2014, Jeffrey has worked on economic inclusion research projects, including the biennial FDIC National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households. Previously, Jeffrey was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Syracuse University, where his research focused on determinants of student achievement in urban public schools, as well as the relationship between urban public schools and their local communities. Jeffrey has published in academic journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Public Economics, and Economic Inquiry. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in 2008.
