EEO Rights & Protections

Any FDIC employee, former employee, or applicant for an FDIC position may file a complaint of discrimination.

FDIC Policy and EEO Laws Prohibit Discrimination based on:

  • Disability (physical and/or mental)
  • Age (40 years or older)
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Genetic Information (information about an individual's genetic tests; or information about the genetic tests, or the manifestation of a disease or disorder in the individual's family members)
  • Parental Status
  • Gender Identity or Expression (a gender-related identity, appearance, expression, or behavior of an individual regardless of the individual's assigned sex at birth)
  • Retaliation (for participating in the EEO complaint process or opposing discriminatory practices)
You must contact an EEO Counselor within 45 calendar days of the employment action or event you believe is discriminatory.

Formal EEO Complaints:

Formal EEO complaints may only be filed within 15 calendar days following the conclusion of EEO counseling and receipt of the Notice of Right to File a Formal Complaint. The formal complaint may contain only those allegations that were presented to the EEO Counselor.
