TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (also of interest to Security Officer)
SUBJECT: Counterfeit Cashier's Checks
Summary: Counterfeit cashier's checks drawn on 1st Choice Bank, Houston, Texas, are reportedly in circulation.

1st Choice Bank, Houston, Texas, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the proper routing number of 113024274 for 1st Choice Bank. The counterfeit items and the authentic checks are similar. However, authentic cashier's checks contain a thermochromic security feature across the top of the instrument, which causes an element to darken when touched. The counterfeit items have a gray background with a maroon border and lack any such security feature. A copy of a counterfeit item and a copy of an authentic cashier's check (VOID) are attached for your review.
