February 11, 2003

TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (also of interest to Compliance Officers and Branch Operations Officers)
SUBJECT: Banker Version of "EDIE" - the Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator - Now Available to Download From the FDIC's Web site
Summary: The FDIC is releasing the new banker version of EDIE in a downloadable format that financial institutions may load directly onto their networks.

Insured financial institutions now have two ways to obtain a free copy of the software for the new banker version of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC's) Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE). On January 1, 2003, the FDIC released the new EDIE software for bankers in CD-ROM format, which is available upon request from the FDIC's Public Information Center. Industry response to the new EDIE product has been tremendous, and the FDIC is now making the product available in a downloadable version that can be accessed from the FDIC's Web site at

To download the software directly from the FDIC's Web site, go to:

The FDIC encourages all FDIC-insured financial institutions to take advantage of this new tool to help bank staff provide accurate information about insurance coverage to customers.
