The creation, distribution, and consumption of financial content across the Web touch millions of users and affects decisions that have global implications for businesses, investors, governments, and consumers.

The FDIC is pleased to host a Workshop organized by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and XBRL International, Inc. on how to achieve greater transparency in both corporate and government financial reporting supply chains along with accurate and timely linked data. The goal of the Workshop is to identify opportunities, use cases, and challenges for interactive access to financial data expressed in XBRL and related languages, and the broader opportunities for using Semantic Web technologies.

Who Should Attend
This Workshop is aimed at people with an involvement in managing financial data in one way or another, or who have an academic interest in how this is done. The workshop will combine a mix of business and technical topics of interest to:

• Government organizations and regulators
• Institutional and individual investors
• Auditors
• Financial analysts and journalists
• XBRL and Semantic Web technology vendors and developers
• Academic researchers

Registration
The XBRL-W3C Workshop is free of charge and open to anyone, subject to review of their statement of interest and space availability. The statement of interest is due by 21 August, 2009 and should be emailed to: team-xbrlws-submit@w3.org

Presentation Materials
Presentations as well as the Workshop Report will be published on the W3C Web site approximately four weeks following the Workshop.
