FDIC Chicago Region Regulatory Conference Call
The FDIC Chicago Region will be hosting a Regional Regulatory Conference Call on Wednesday, December 17th at 10:00 a.m. (Central Time). Members of your Board and staff are invited to participate in this one-hour call.
The environment within which financial institutions operate is dynamic and the landscape continues to evolve as new products and services emerge in the industry. The ability to identify and mitigate risks from a consumer harm perspective, particularly through the lens of Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices (UDAP), is vital. Without a solid compliance management system (CMS), the challenges of managing those risks intensify.
December 17th Teleconference
Our topic for the teleconference will be “Identifying and Mitigating UDAP Risk.” The one-hour session will:
- Provide a brief overview of the criteria for UDAP – Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act
- Offer best practices for developing a strong CMS that can self-identify risks and potential issues
- Discuss practices that have resulted in UDAP violations
- Provide insight on how to correct potential violations when self-identified
Our speakers, Compliance Examiners Kara Hamilton and Sarah Troehler, will provide their unique insights from an examination perspective. Deputy Regional Director Teresa Sabanty will provide opening remarks and preside over the teleconference. The one-hour call will conclude with a question and answer session.
The teleconference is primarily open to FDIC supervised institutions in the Chicago Region. Bank directors, officers, and staff members are welcome to attend. Participants may call in from any location and are not required to be onsite at their institutions.
