CRA and Community Development
Community Affairs foster initiatives that promotes economic inclusion and community development. We work to help create positive banking relationships between consumers and financial institutions, with a focus on low- and moderate-income people and small businesses. Through collaboration with financial institutions, as well as national, regional, and local community and government organizations, the FDIC’s Community Affairs program promotes community development partnerships and access to capital in historically underserved markets.
Community Affairs also provide technical assistance to financial institutions and community partners by convening or informing banking and community organizations at forums, roundtables, and financial education events. FDIC publishes reports and other materials on community development and economic inclusion topics. Community Affairs conduct workshops for community organizations to increase knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act and community development.
