Milwaukee Alliance for Economic Inclusion

The Milwaukee AEI is a coalition of banks, credit unions, community organizations, local and state government agencies, and key community stakeholders. With approximately 100 organizations, the AEI has concentrated their work in Wisconsin’s Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties and focused on bringing unbanked and underbanked populations into the financial mainstream. Members participate in the AEI by attending a twice annual member meetings and volunteering with their collaborative AEI members.

AEI Meetings provide professional development and networking opportunities for members.  Meetings showcase the latest tools and trends in the financial services industry. Speakers include a mix of diverse leaders from the financial services, academia, and nonprofit sectors.  Meetings discuss ways to increase awareness of, or access to, basic retail financial products and services with an emphasis on the needs of underserved communities.  Topics included the availability of basic and low-cost checking and savings accounts, emergency or college savings, and financial education programming offered through the FDIC Money Smart or local organizations.  In the past two years, the AEI has focused on access to credit and mastering credit building skills, especially in low- and moderate income neighborhoods.
