I live in North Crown Hgts Brooklyn, and our community is beginning to see a renaissance of our neighborhoods and cultural institutions. The banks play a key role in helping people secure loans to buy and renovate many of the beautiful turn-of-the-century brownstones. I oppose the FDIC's proposal to allow banks with assets above $250 million to be examined as small banks under the Community Reinvestment Act. This policy would reduce lending,investments and srvices in low-income communities.
