I strongly oppose the proposed rule changes in the Community Reinvestment Act (RIN 3064-AC50). This action will do harm to rural communities. : I strongly oppose the proposed rule changes in the Community Reinvestment Act (RIN 3064-AC50). As a community development professional, I have seen countless neighborhoods where the support of financial institutions really led to the success of the development. Too many communities are neither safe nor decent places to live in America, and the required support of our financial institutions goes a long way toward fixing those problems. The history of redlining and discrimination has led to the segregation of our society and the disintegration of our cities. It is wholly appropriate that members of the banking community should now help fund new progress. The proposed changes to the Community Reinvestment Act will decrease the amount of money being invested in urban and rural neighborhoods, and directly harm those communities.
