Dear Mr. Feldman,
We as the Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho are
writing to strongly oppose the proposed rule change to the Community
Reinvestment Act regulations. Idaho will have no banks with full
Community Reinvestment Act coverage if the proposed rule change
passes.
The Community Reinvestment Act under its present rules has been
integral in helping Idaho's rural communities gain home ownership,
upgrade dilapidated and unsafe mobile homes to safe and habitable
conditions, guarantee access to banking facilities and much, much
more. Adopting the proposed rule change would end all of this and
jeopardize the economic viability of many of Idaho's communities.
Idaho is 88% rural and relies on access to the same banking services
the nation's more populous and affluent communities have. Please
do not take this away from Idaho. We implore you to reject this
rule change and help Idaho's communities continue to grow and thrive.
