Nuestra Comunidad opposes the FDIC' proposal to allow banks with assets above $250 million to be examined as small banks under the Community Reinvestment Act. This policy would reduce lending, investments and services in low-income communities. As Executive Director of Nuestra I sit on a number of loan and investment committees of lenders and syndicators. The banks sitting with me on these readily admit that it is the CRA pressure that keeps them investing in these pool. We can not lose this leverage.
