General Comment:OCC: docket # 06-04 FDIC 2006 0017
Personal experience last year, in reviewing my credit reports, required me to
contact several closed accounts and request that they indicate that the accounts
were closed at my request and in good standing. Reporting agencies should be
required to do this automatically, as unclear and/or incomplete-incorrect entries
can have a negative effect on the consumer.
As much of an increasing threat as identity theft has become and the difficulties in
correcting the results of the theft, consumers should not have to struggle to
ensure that positive entries are made. Especially when any negative/adverse
entries are promptly noted and immediately effect scoring.
