General Comment:

When a creditor transferred my past due debt to a collection agency, neither the
creditor nor the collection agency reported any subsequent payments that I made
to settle the debt. I did manage to pay off the entire debt including interest, but my
credit reports still showed the full amount as owed. I had to wait the seven years
for the information to be removed. I feel that creditors and collection agencies
should be required to report past due amounts accurately even if those amounts
are in collections. An account in collections with no payments made against it
says something different about the borrower than an account in collections that
has been paid off or has regular payments posting to it. Credit reports should
reflect this difference. I know I would rather hire or lend money to a late-payer
rather than a never-payer.
