PLEASE, STOP THIS PROPOSED CHANGE IN CRA LEGISLATION IMMEDIATELY.
Has all of government lost their minds? I run a Fair Housing Center
in Southwest Michigan and in every community in the nine county service
area has a critical lack of affordable housing, even with the CRA
mandate in place. If it is removed for all but a handfull of banks,
imagine the continuous errosion of incentives to support affordable
housing initiatives in communities that are already plagued with
the loss of decent paying jobs! Do you remember the riots of 1967?
I do, and people have nothing to loose anymore. DON'T ELIMINATE THIS
INCENTIVE FOR BANKS TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITIES THEY DO BUSINESS IN!!!
It will reduce lending, investments and services to low income communities.
