Subject: Community Reinvestment -- RIN 3064-AC50
I oppose the FDIC's proposal to allow banks with assets above $250
million to be examined as small banks under the Community Reinvestment
Act. Lending and investment opportunities and other services are vital
for low-income communities to realize revitalization opportunities and
are at risk with the approval of this proposal. The neighborhood
planning that I have done has relied heavily on the participation and
services of the banking community acting as agents of change in
community revitalization. By lessening the accountability of these
financial institutions, the resources of struggling and even successful
community development corporations will be drastically reduced.
Please preserve the Community Reinvestment Act and continue the
investments and opportunity in our low-income neighborhoods.
Sincerely,
Martha Cross
