Subject: Community Reinvestment RIN3064-AC50
Please accept these comments from Forrest Avenue Community Center,
Inc., a minority-based nonprofit organization in rural, south Georgia.
We have been working under extreme obstacles from local banks with
our efforts to eliminate substandard housing. To further eliminate rules
and regulations concerning the Community Reinvestment Act is a "slap in
the face" for low-income communities.
You may visit the Afro-American communities of Homerville (Clinch
County) Georgia anytime (perhaps in a 60 Minutes segment or CNN
segment). CRA criteria should be strengthened, not weakened.
It's hard enough being minority, low-income, disadvantaged, and
"over-collaterized" for every bank loan. Local banks of interest:
People's Bank/Homerville GA and Clinch Banking Company/Homerville GA.
Although these banks CRA reports show acceptable ratings-- THIS IS NOT
ACCURATE!!
