Subject: Community Reinvestment -- RIN 3064-AC50
The proposed changes in the requirements of the Community
Reinvestment Act seem to be in direct conflict with some of the goals
expressed by President Bush in his nomination acceptance speech at the
Republican National Convention. President Bush said that he intends to
create an "ownership society", meaning he wants to make it easier for
people of all incomes to own their home.
A reduction of the requirements to insure that lending institutions
loan money in all geographic areas and to people in all income brackets
seems to be a "flip flop" of the Bush Administration.
