Re: RIN 3064-AC50 Dear Mr. Feldman:
I strongly oppose the proposed rule changing the Community Reinvestment
Act regulations. So many small towns in America are struggling
for their lives. Community reinvestment is essential to keep rural
communities from dying a slow death. So much of what is good in
our nation has grown out of values like hard work, self-sufficiency,
and looking out for one another that small rural towns inculcate
in their members.
The majority of the banks affected by these changes in the CRA
are in rural areas. These fragile communities need government support
rather than policies which hasten their decline. If the FDIC adopts
its proposal, community reinvestment in rural areas will be dramatically
reduced. We cannot afford to let that happen. Please do not adopt
this rule.
Respectfully,
Patricia Hughes Mangis
