I am very concerned about the proposal to raise the threshold definition of small banks. I think that it is a tremendous leap and will exempt far too many institutions. CRA has fostered meaningful and mutually productive relationships in our community. While it may be the tool that helps to get folks to the table, the results of the relationship have been what has kept our non profit and big and small banks together at the table. New Orleans has an unusually large number of small institutions that are significant in the community. I hope that the FDIC does not change the limit and therefore send the wrong message to them that their commitment to meet the credit needs of the community are any less important today than they were when the CRA was first adopted.
